19th October; Tattooing Work Experience

So for the next week I`ll be working at a local Tattoo parlor called Ink Kings, So I`m probably not going to be updating on here for the rest of the week. Just so at the end of the week I`ll actually have something to blog about at the end of the week.
Or, I could update once every night to say how my day has been; It depends as to what works really, I`ll find something out tomorrow when it comes to actually working there for the week.

14th, October; A Week Of, Not Much, Relaxation

The past week has been absolutely manic for everyone, the sixth form closing, the teachers losing
their jobs and us worried about what will happen to the rest of the lower years at our school.

It`s all calmed down a little bit now and everyone seems a little bit more relaxed as the week has gone on, the teachers are looking for new jobs and the majority of the year 12 students have now left and found a new place for year 12 and 13. If anything we`re all happy for them finally finding a place after different colleges and sixth forms said that they will be refusing quite a lot of the students that we had... but it`s all calm now, no more stressing out on their behalf.

Not much has been happening, we got over 500 supporters on the change.org petition that I set up, one night it was that busy that my phone just kept on freezing whenever I tried to get onto the website and I`ve been getting messages of support to carry on petitioning. But so far we`ve met with the local MP, and all shes managed to do is keep the sixth form open ONLY for year 12 BTEC art students who are doing the 2 year course.

God I love adventure time,
and a bonus... Halloween!

People are seeming in much better spirits and this week has felt a lot more positive in my class, I`d say that the only problem that we have in class now is the noise levels. especially because most of us are getting headcolds all of a sudden (I blame my work colleagues for that), so loud music, laughing and singing won`t really be helping any of us at the moment.
I`m also going to pick up my Portfolio soon so I can begin filling that with some of my work, so right now I`m getting ready for my university interviews which I am incredibly nervous for right now. I`ve filled out my UCAS form so that`s all ready, the only things left now are my personal statement and then my reference from the head of my sixth form.



Apart from all of the sixth form closure drama:
Work has been going well, I`m trying to get a few more hours of over time so I can hopefully get some more money towards Christmas time so I can get some nice presents for everyone! This will be my first year having a job and my own money to buy people presents and I`ve been trying to budget myself a bit but I only have 50p in my bank right now... Yay.

I finally figured out how to use the Sixth forms scanning system for my art work, so now on my Devinatart theres a bunch of pictures of paper marbling and some wet on wet work that I`ve been doing; So at the moment it`s all experimentation work.

Then, next Tuesday I`ll be working at a Tattoo parlor called Ink Kings. They`re one of the best around and I`ve luckily got Tuesday till Friday to work for them as the receptionist. So I`m a bit worried about the way I`ll come across to people, because this is a professional business that I`ll be working in so I`m still really nervous about going there... Even though I work in customer service at the weekends.

THE CLOSURE OF MY LOCAL SIXTH FORM!

This morning we received devastating news about my sixth form being closed down at the end of this year; this place has offered so much to me and It`s disastrous to see it go. But we aren`t going down without a fight.

This morning we had an emergency assembly with the whole of sixth form attending; then we where informed of the closure of our AMAZING sixth form in July 2016. Luckily I`ll be able to finish year 13 and go on to university but those in year 12 who have settled in and are loving their course will now have to leave and find somewhere new that will take them on as an emergency placements. I`m seriously devastated at the news and I`m so disappointed at the fact that they are seriously going through with this now...

Future generations won`t be able to gain the life skills, employability skills and just the general skills that they`ll need to get through life. So many students are now left without a clue as where to go and most parents are furious and have been storming into the school today so they can speak to the head of the school.

Even if this petition doesn`t work, it shows that people out there still care about the students and the community that we create. Because of all of this, we can no longer raise anymore money for students in Gambia and no more money for the charity called Ben`s Den...

2nd October; Student Ambassador Work and Anxiety

2nd October; Student Ambassador! 

So I`m starting to get a lot more confident when it comes to working with others now, i`ve done a little bit of student ambassador work in the past year at sixth form and then some in year 11.
But this time, it was bloody awesome.

So if you don`t know yet, I suffer from anxiety, quite badly too... Just last night, I had an anxiety attack when walking home since a bunch of teenagers where across the road from me yelling abusive phrases about my hair, boyfriend and how much of a "whore" i am. But i had my headphones on an pretended to ignore them... Bad idea, my hand got sweaty, i started to shake quite badly and then I couldn`t breath and when I got around the corner i ran down the street and got inside as fast as I could.

But it got me thinking a little bit, these people stand on street corners smoking and drinking when they`re about 12 or 13 years old, I`m 17 and still get nervous when walking past these kinds of people.
But I`m going to University, these kids are going to be getting a PASS grade in shampooing a mannequins head at college. It just makes me wonder why people think they look "amazing" when they smoke and have nothing going for them. So then i remembered the night before when I did some student ambassador work with the year 6 opening evening.

The whole school was open, parents and their children came in and looked around, sat in speeches from the head of the school, got a tour around the school by us and then got to see all of the subjects and the subject teachers.
That night the head of the school received a lot of compliments about how lovely, kind and helpful I was when it came to answering questions and speaking about the subjects that the school had to offer. Now because of my anxiety, I`m scared of gobby mouthed teenagers but not of parents who will judge the whole school on the grounds of the student ambassadors. There`s definitely  been a big change in the way my anxiety works then, before I was terrified of everything... But now I can speak to people a lot more freely than before, but I can`t walk home without feeling nervous and petrified of the chavs of Ilkeston.

I`m quite proud of myself for the opening night, I spoke to soooo many parents and tried to get involved in the kids. The amount of compliments I received that went to the head of the school was amazing and then all of my old teachers that I would usually be too shy to speak too where coming up to me and asking me as to what I`ve been doing and how I`ve been. Many of my past teachers didn`t even know that I was still at the sixth form, I`m not surprised though... I hardly either never leave the art room or I never put the effort into going and speaking to them.

But there`s a good improvement there; just like when I began blogging and uploading to devinatart I never responded to messages, but now I respond whenever I get them and I quite enjoy reading through the messages now... Like an even bigger confidence boost to be honest.
But there`s always a own side to receiving messages from people who can see me worldwide, inappropriate nude images from guys and the hate messages from the girls; I`m getting a little bit used to it now and I should hopefully stop receiving them soon. The again, there`s the supportive people who send me lovely messages about my work On devintart and on facebook, so thanks you guys!

But all in all, It was a good night; But my anxiety is changing dramatically and that was the first time I`ve had an attack out in the open like that, luckily the chavs didn`t notice. My confidence is improving, but I need to upload a lot more on these blogs if i want to keep on getting supportive messages from you guys; thanks so far!

22nd, September; Two Weeks Back And A Bit Of Progress!

So, we haven`t been back for too long right now. I`ve only made a small amount of progress right now and I`m getting there with gathering ideas for my final piece already! But, I think the teachers are just a littleeee bit frustrated with me because I want more huge wooden boards to work on again... So yeah, i`m going to make a hugeee mess once again.


The class i`m in is quite big right now there`s 15-20 people in there at one time, so it`s quite noisy at time now and I`m finding it particularly hard to concentrate on what i`m supposed to be doing; I think a lot of us are finding it hard to concentrate on anything at the moment, we all need a good rest... It`s just so loud constantly and with my illness it`s making my head go all over the place and I have to keep on going on quick walks and breaks to get out of there and have some quite.
Hopefully we can sort it out soon and get the rest of the class working as they should be, don`t get me wrong, their work is amazing; But since we`ve been back they haven`t even finished one observational drawing so far and everyone else is trying to move on now.
But hopefully, it can get sorted soon, and then we can all get along once again! ^.^

It`s also my anniversary soon, on the 24th of September me and David will of been together for a year. We didn`t let anyone know for a while though, so when I gave him his presents early (because I got mine early) everyone seemed very confused at it being our anniversary soon.
It`s really awesome having him in art aswell, It means that I get to spend wayyy more time with him without having to walk home in the middle of the dark late at night. I`m getting to spend more time at home with my mum, sisters and little nephew now because I don`t have to use all of that spare time to see David.
I still stay around at the weekends when I`m work, and yes, I still work at bloody B&M.
But I`ve still got two weeks of work experience planned out in October; for the first week, i`ll be working in a Tattoo shop called Ink Kings which is in Ilkeston so it`s even easier to get too in the morning. working with the Taxidermy artist has been proven difficult due to the amount of time that I don`t have and the amount time he spends working on large projects. Then I`ve been in contact with Shed2Studios In Ilkeston (another local place), I asked for a week there but also said that a few hours a day or just a visit to the studios would also prove to be helpful to me.

The only other thing I need to add is that I`ve started to apply for universities and have my UCAS account sorted out now; I had a problem with logging in, I had all of the information correct, but for some reason I kept on getting locked out of my account because of failed log in attempts... But on their end, it said that I haven`t even logged in; so something was wrong there, but it`s all sorted now so I can carry on with my personal statement work and finding courses!

Not much has been happening lately, I do wish my life was more interesting right now; if it does help, I`ve been watching assassination classroom and Future Diary, so I`ve watched enough for reviewing I think. I`ve also hit an amazing 50.5K reads on the review book! It was originally made to help me with my English skills about 3 or 4 years ago, but I kept on writing in it to see what kind of reaction people would have whenever they read them. It`s done really well and It`s still quite surprising that more and more people are still reading it.

14th, September; Back To sixth Form!

Idiot Sandwiches... 

So it`s Monday, i do apologize for not updating on Friday like I said I would...

So far the teachers have decided that we spend the whole week just doing drawing this week; and if anything, that`s just going to make life even duller than before. So no I`m a little bummed out at the fact that we don`t get to do much for a while, however; I have already finished my observational drawing work and I really want to move on, so just to please the teachers I`m doing little samples of observational drawings that are a bit more detailed than the A2 ones I`ve done so far.
So for now I`m just gong to keep them happy. I`ve also sorted out one of the storage rooms in the new block (all by myself, cause I`m awesome). There`s also a sixth form opening evening coming up that I`m going to be helping out at, since I literally have nothing else to do right now.

So work is going good right no, but someone who I was friends with is now moving all the way to Germany; He`s just finished University and has been (apparently), been a bit down since he`s struggling to find a job... but, It`s not all doom and gloom, He`s been accepted by Ubisoft to work for them over in Germany. He`s been working at the dump for 4 years now and he does seem upset to leave everyone, it`s a big move so I`m not surprised really; I`m happy for him though, to move out there with an awesome job that you`ve wanted for years and have had to train for, for soooo long... It`s kind of given me hope that when I leave university, I can get a decent job and earn all of that money back that I owe to the University.

Everything is good-ish at the moment, my class is a bit distracting though since there are some reallyyyyy, realllyyyy loud girls in there now. It`s just easier to have my headphones on and write in my sketchbook right now, actually making some decent looking work is just hard because of how loud they are right now.

We`ve all decided to give them or a week or so to calm down and settle in; but if it keeps up or gets worse then they`re all going to hate us for getting fed up with them. So it`s basically going to go back to how it was with Beth and Amy at the beginning of last year, which is upsetting really since we`ve just started to get used to them and we all get along quite well now.

But things will settle down soon, I`ve got a lot of University preparation to begin and I`ve almost finished my personal statement and CV now; So I also have almost all of my Unit 10 work finished too! I`m on top of everything and ready to actually get some work done soon!

9th, September; Back To Sixth Form!

So everyone is going back to school,everyones at college,
the year 12`s have gone in...
but the year 13`s get a lie in... :3 yayy

So everyone`s going back to school now, which unfortunately means that I will have to too; It`s been nie having this break, but now I need to start getting some more work done which should be fun.
The way that I act at sixth form is definitely going to change dramatically when I go back, and I don`t think I will be socializing with people in my class since i know what they think of me now... Which is a good thing for the blog, there are going to be plenty of new faces here, new art styles and hopefully a lot more updates about the good times I`m having since I`ve been back.

Right now i`m actually still in bed, I`m trying to get all of my work e-mailed over to my school account; I`ve been working on quite a bit of photoshop practice (if you haven`t seen it already then head over to my art blog, link is down below). In fact, i even know what I`m going to do with all of my photoshopped designs and it should be quite fun.

I`ve also been thinking about selling my work too; The style of them are a little bit plain but they`re nice. I`m already making three of them for Christmas presents too and if i do decide to sell them then they will be sold with the frames and cost around £15 to £20 each. The only reason that they will cost that much is because; the pens are £10 each! the frames are around about £5 each and then i have to pay for your postage and packaging.
So hopefully, if anyone is interested; then i could start selling some of my framed work for you guys, which will also give me spare money to make more and more better work at a better size and quality for selling.

So i`ve got a lot planned for the time being, even though it may not seem like it... I`m actually quite busy at the moment.
I`ll probably blog on Friday too, because that way i would of had three days to settle back in to sixth form and hopefully something interesting to write about. See you guys then!
