27th, August; Nottingham Contemporary, Michael Beutler Exhibition.

As part of my try and get out of the house as much as possible whilst you still have a life.
And also visit three galleries/museums before I start University, which I now have a date for (12th of September at 9:00am).
This time, we did a very small venture into Nottinghams city centre, I also got lost trying to find the Gallery as I though I knew what I was doing but I was clearly mistaken on quite a large scale. Luckily though, we asked some locals and it turned out that we where only around the corner from it... But I actually insisted that we walked the other way, so I have to admit that I am somewhat of a moron.

So when we eventually got there, I didn`t even know what Exhibition was on and David obviously had to go and make his mark in the bathroom... I`m beginning to slowly think that It`s becoming some sort of ritual wherever we go now.
Also, if no one knows; David and I met up one weekend, the month break that we`ve had has really helped us both out and we`re both a lot less stressed and in each others faces. So this was our first proper day out together as a couple again, which also means that next month will be our two year anniversary together!
Trust me, there where a lot of tears, hugs and crying uncontrollably like a large baby, but we spoke about things, our current situations, our stresses and our worries about University (since that was what was stressing us both out the most when we went on our break).
We`ve sorted things out, again. Being a month away from him and trying to sort things out slowly and speaking only on the odd occasion made me miss him a wholeeee lotttt more. It wasn`t that I was just missing being in a relationship, I missed him, literally everything about him and everything in my bedroom reminded me of him; I had so many framed pictures of me and him, and a book full of photos of me and him, just the simple things made me realize that I was actually supposed to be helping him and not leaving him to face things on his own that where stressing him out. We`re both not as stressed now, and we`re trying to still stay out of each others faces to give each other a bit of space, but my family has missed him a lot and they`re all happy we`ve finished our break now.

Enough of that though!

The day was really fun, we did quite a bit of shopping before we went over to the Gallery, and it was nice to spend some time together again. David was hilarious walking around the Exhibition. As you most of you should know, I do fine art and David does Illustration... So he actually thought that the exhibition was hilarious to walk around, he did enjoy it a lot but he was confused about the whole piece and the production of it, that kind of thing. In the end though he did enjoy it and I really enjoyed it all.

The piece itself is environmentally sensitive, so it`s all been built to fit the room it`s in and was all constructed inside of that room so it fits everything perfectly, the only downside is that if this was to go to another gallery then it would have to be modified to fit rooms and ceilings and stuff. The whole piece was made out of just fishing nets (I think), papers and cardboards covered in inks. There was some make shift scaffolding in one area with little statues and pots, and huge lanterns made out of wire mesh and... Well I want to say tissue paper with layers of PVA glue because it felt like paper but it was also extremely shiny.
Along with giant walls made out of paper and covered in netting, photos, sofas made out of paper, scaffolding, pottery, videos of how they made the piece and giant lanterns; there was also a large carpeted area that you could walk on if you took your shoes off, this was like rolls of fabric that was all strung together with chunky string. The image at the top is me sat on it, it was very comfy and I kept whenever we went by it.
It really is impressive, the way everything fits together perfectly and it`s all on a huge scale.

If your in the Nottingham or Derby area, then Nottingham contemporary is free.
It`s also one of those places that you have to go too to appreciate it, the exhibition space was very, very big and it`s hard to appreciate it just through me telling you what it was like for me.

If your near the area then go and check out the Contemporary, it`s free and open all through the summer. If you don`t live nearby, then check out Michael Beutlers work online!

18th, august; Results Day!

As everyone one in England should of known, everyone who's doing A levels has been sh*tting themselves for the past month or so, as Results day fastly approached.
Well results day was today, and boy, did everyone do some last minute panicking last night.

I went and got mine this morning, along with David; I guess the picture in the local paper can explain how it went for the both of us.

Well, Derby University changed my conditional offer to an Unconditional in mid July, So I wasn't too worried about getting in.
But then when I got my grades, as you can see by the picture at the side, I was over the bloody moon!

I managed to get my B grade last year up to an A grade, and as the grade boundaries didn't move at all, it stayed at an A! So, I have an A in Fine art now! But I was expecting a B grade which made the A grade a happy surprise.

The course that I was studying was the BTEC extended national diploma, and within that you get three other grades. I got way higher than what I was supposed to get, my target was in fact Distinction, Merit, Merit; now that amounts to an A, B, B.
Another amazing surprise was that I in fact got Distinction*, Distinction, Distinction; which amounts to A*, A, A!

I got three A`s and an A*!

David also did incredibly well, he got his place at Derby University for Illustration, and he got A, A, B! So we`ll both be off to University soon, and I`m excited but also quite nervous at the same time!

On another note, after this quick update, all other updates on all other blogs should continue to run normally. I know I haven`t been taking as much time as I should to do updates, but life has been quite hectic and quite busy.
I`ll see you all soon!

11th, August; Wollaton Hall!

Would you look at that, my rota says I`ve got three days off of work this week...

Best plan something productive!

So today, my mum, my little sister and my nephew all went to Wollaton park for a cute little family day out. Well it was supposed to be cute but it ended up being me running off and trying to take pictures of everything that looked mildly interesting. Luckily, not many people where there since we went there quite early, so not that many people saw me throw myself on the floor to get some good close up photos.

Not a lot of people will know about Wollaton hall unless you live in Derbyshire, it`s a rather popular place for History enthusiasts. The place is covered in detailed paintings from the art deco movement, some of which cover walls and ceilings on the staircases, and some of which are framed and dotted around some of the halls most famous rooms. They have small exhibitions on at times, and hold quite a few big wedding events where models come and prance around the halls grounds in their beautiful dresses.

The place is well known for it`s taxidermy art which runs throughout almost all of the rooms, I think there`s only like two rooms that don`t have any taxidermy in them at all. I`m actually acquaintances with one of the taxidermy artists, and I also met one of the other taxidermy artists who was actually at the hall when we went. He was rather friendly and was stood rather proudly in front of a giant hippo skeleton. I would still love to learn about taxidermy and how the process works, but I`m struggling to find someone who will actually let me shadow their work for a day or two.

The grounds of the halls are hugeeee, but if you`re quite a fast walker like me than it won`t take long to walk around the lake. Another thing that the park is very popular for has to be the deer's that they have, and they actually scared me sooo much when we went. They where laid down in the shadow of the trees and we had actually walked straight past them without even realizing that they where there, we only realized when we got to the car to leave and they had stood up and began to walk away from the trees... So if I had realized that they where there I could of got some amazing photographs of them just chilling out.

The gardens are looking mazing aswell, the flowers seem to be mid-way through blooming so there where some amazing colours and flowers to be seen in the garden area.
The taxidermy rooms are jam packed with dead animals, and my nephew seemed to be quite scared of the ginormous giraffe and the screaming gorilla. Downstairs you have all of the deer, bison, moose, bull heads lining the top of the cabinets and then birds inside the cabinets that cover every wall. There`s skeletons in some rooms, a bunch of butterfly cabinets that are brightly lit up so you can see every little detail, and there are a lot of insects that I`ve never seen before; like exotic aqua blue beetles.

If your reading this and you haven`t been to Wollaton hall yet, then where have you been?
I`ve been going there quite often from a young age and I still go now even though I`ve seen everything there well over 60 bloody times.
It makes for a good day out, and it certainly got me out of the house for 4 hours so I`d say it was a win, win really. The only downside to when we went, was the amount of people walking around the halls just trying to find pokemon on pokemon go, even though there was some amazing art work there. Even though I love pokemon go myself, seeing the amount of people who are no longer bothered about the amazing places they`re in is actually quite sad.

Overall it was a very good day out, and rather productive too.
It was productive as I really, really, wanted to go out and get some photography work done during the holidays; but I didn`t want to go by myself.
So going to Wollaton hall with my family gave me a good opportunity to go and get some really good photos taken.

I do apologize for this being such a short update, there isn`t really that much to say unless you`ve been their yourself.
I will also be doing an art blog update showing off all of the photography that I got from this lovely day out. I`ll also be updating some time next week about a day out at Nottingham contemporary gallery and It`s also results day next week!!
Meaning that we'll all find out if I got the grades to be definitely going to University!
